Our client are a leading environmental planning consultancy who specialise in Landscape Planning, Ecology and Arboriculture and due to recent growth within the business the position of Graduate Arboricultural Consultant has opened up within there London (Waterloo) offices.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidates will be supporting our London team on a wide range of projects, assisting with undertaking BS5837 Tree Quality Surveys and the preparation of Arboricultural Impact Assessments / Arboricultural Method Statements.
  • The role will include undertaking field work and providing graphics support whilst attending meetings with clients, stakeholders and the Local Authority as required. It is envisaged that the role in the first instance will be to support the current team whilst gaining a hands-on experience of applied Arboricultural Consultancy. A working knowledge of and a demonstrable ability to use AutoCAD is needed.
  • We will be looking for skills in the writing and preparation of reports and assessments to be developed with a view to eventually managing projects and undertaking lone-working on-site.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills/ attributes:

  • Candidates must have a degree or diploma in Arboriculture or an associated environmental discipline (ecology, horticulture, landscape architecture or landscape planning), have relevant office based experience and have an interest in and up-to-date knowledge of the UK planning system. We will be looking for a basic understanding of the roles and processes linked to pro-active environmental consultancy, an enthusiastic work ethic and a keenness to learn on the job.
  • A basic knowledge and interest in summer and winter tree and hedgerow species identification will be required, alongside an understanding of Arboricultural consultancy in accordance with BS5827:2012.
  • Candidates must have a full UK driving licence to enable site work. Candidates may also be asked to work occasionally from our other offices and assist the wider team with inputs for other disciplines to manage workloads and projects as required.
