Job: Senior Settlements Officer

Our clients are a leading international Bank and due to recent expansion they are now looking for a senior Settlements Officer to join their team in Northwich, Cheshire.

The successful candidate will act as a lead point of contact carrying out a broad range of responsibilities to meet the diverse nature of work within a Settlements area of an international bank. This includes performing payment authorisation, control of cash management, managing team processes, training and mentoring other staff and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Main Duties:

  • Proven experience in a Financial Services (banking) environment, preferably of working in a foreign currencies and payment processing using banking systems.
  • Drive and take ownership for the execution of all Treasury transactions.  These include FX, MM and securities processing.
  • Ability to maintain an excellent degree of accuracy whilst working to tight deadlines and be able to adapt in a changing and demanding environment.
  • Excellent administration and time management skills – ability to manage and organise multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • In liaison with the Treasury front office assist in the management of daily cash balances and currency positioning.
  • Experience of managing and running a successful training structure for a small team.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexibly within a time-bound environment, prioritising and balancing tasks and activities to ensure externally driven timescales are adhered to.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging – MT103/MT202 and MT300/MT320.
  • Escalate and lead issue resolution through communication with external parties and Treasury Front Office.
  • Resolve internal and external customer queries regarding cash in a timely and professional manner.
  • Investigate and help to resolve numerous, varied and sometimes complex queries.

Person/Experience required:

  • Relevant experience within a Back office / administration office environment.
  • Payments experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Swift Messaging – MT103 / MT202 and MT300/ MT320
  • A good attention to detail, adaptability, a keenness to learn and accurate keyboard skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • A good team player, capable of working in a fast paced pressured environment.
  • Ability to build relationships effectively, both in the immediate team and wider business.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, with ability to provide exceptional levels of customer service.
  • Able to work in a fast paced pressured environment, maintaining accuracy and quality
