Accounts Assistant

Howard James Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established company in the fire and security sector with their search for a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant. About the Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the finance team by maintaining accurate records, managing invoices, and ensuring day-to-day financial processes run efficiently. You will also provide assistance to colleagues during busy periods and help keep the department organised.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records and databases
- Respond to internal and external enquiries relating to accounts and transactions
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions
- Perform general administrative duties, including filing and documentation
- Ensure adherence to company policies in all financial transactions
- Support colleagues across the Finance Team during peak periods or holidays
- Perform additional duties as required by the Finance Manager
Person Specification
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar accounts role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Experience with Sage accounting software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience with Xero accounting software
- Familiarity with other financial systems
