Human Resources Manager – Part-Time, Permanent

Howard James Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Human Resources Manager on behalf of one of our clients. This part-time, permanent opportunity is ideal for a proactive HR professional looking for a flexible role, potentially aligned with school hours.
The Role:
The HR Manager will lead and direct all functions of the Human Resources department, including staff recruitment, absence management, employee relations, and policy development. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for attracting and developing talent, supporting managers, and managing HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide HR guidance to managers and support daily HR enquiries.
- Manage employee relations, including disputes, disciplinary actions, grievances, absence, retirement, and redundancy.
- Collaborate with union representatives and support employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures to enhance performance and mitigate disputes.
- Oversee recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, preparing interview materials, and conducting inductions.
- Lead learning and development initiatives, succession planning, and talent pool management.
- Drive alignment between HR strategy and business objectives.
- Support change management processes and introduce performance appraisal systems.
Experience & Skills Required:
- CIPD qualified (essential).
- Minimum of 5 years’ HR generalist experience (essential).
- Experience in a unionised environment (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application.
- Exceptional organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proactive, resilient, and able to manage conflict with discretion.
- Experienced in supporting line managers through change and fostering employee wellbeing.
