How quickly can you provide temporary staff?
For most commercial and office-based roles we can put forward candidates within 24–48 hours. For more specialist requirements it may take a little longer — we'll give you a realistic timeframe when you contact us.
How does temporary staffing work in terms of employment and payroll?
Temporary staff are employed by Howard James Recruitment and placed with you on assignment. We handle payroll, contracts, holiday pay and all associated employment obligations. You pay us a weekly charge rate that covers the candidate's pay and our margin — there's no separate payroll administration for you to manage.
Is there a minimum assignment length?
No. We can provide cover for a single day through to open-ended assignments of several months. We're flexible and can adjust if your requirements change during the assignment.
What happens if the temporary candidate isn't right?
Tell us as early as possible and we'll work to find a replacement quickly. We'd rather know early so we can put things right — and we'll always take responsibility for the quality of our candidates.
Can a temporary placement become permanent?
Yes, and it's a route a number of our clients take. If you'd like to offer a temporary candidate a permanent role, we'll discuss the appropriate arrangement with you. Alternatively, if you want the quality of a permanent search with more financial flexibility from the start, our Flex Fee service may be a better fit.
Which locations do you cover?
We recruit across the UK from offices in Manchester, Birmingham, London and throughout Cheshire and the North West — including Northwich, Knutsford, Crewe, Winsford and Warrington. For most requirements the location of our nearest office matters less than the strength of our local candidate network.
