Monday Morning Candidate Calls
Monday mornings always start the same way for me.
The kettle goes on, the computer boots up and before I've even looked at my emails, I'm already thinking about which candidates I need to speak to.
Some recruiters spend Monday chasing paperwork. I prefer spending it talking to people.
It's amazing what you learn from a simple phone call.
Someone who wasn't looking for a new job on Friday has spent the weekend thinking about their future. Another candidate has decided it's finally time to leave after one bad week too many. Others have had interviews elsewhere and want some honest advice before making a decision.
Those conversations matter.
They're rarely just about a job vacancy. More often, they're about careers, ambitions, families, commuting time or simply finding an employer who appreciates what they bring to the table.
That's why I never see candidate calls as a numbers game. Every conversation helps me understand people a little better, and that means I can make better introductions when the right opportunity comes along.
By the time many employers start advertising a vacancy, I've already spoken to people who could be a great fit.
That's one of the real advantages of working with an experienced recruitment agency. We're not waiting for candidates to apply. We're building relationships every single week.
For me, Monday morning isn't the start of the working week.
It's the start of helping someone find a better opportunity—and helping another business find exactly the person they've been looking for.
